The Rutgers University Debate Union (RUDU) novices continued their domination of tournaments this weekend with a novice championship at the United States Military Academy tournament in West Point, New York.

Here are the accomplishments logged for the team at West Point:
Stephen Yellin & Adam Bomeisl – Novice Champions [winning novice finals] Ashley Novak – 6th Novice Speaker

Yellin & Bomeisl had an epic run through the tournament, facing three teams who broke to varsity outrounds and defeating the fifth ranked team of the year en route to a break to novice semifinals. They then won both novice semis and finals on unanimous 3-0 decisions.

Varsity teams split from their regular partnerships in the attempt to get national qualification points for some sophomores on the team. Most of these teams were in bubble rounds and much progress was made overall during the tournament, including a win for Chris Bergman & Ashley Novak over the top-ranked team in the country at the time.

Practice starts again Tuesday for the upcoming Brandeis tournament.
