The Rutgers University Debate Union (RUDU) is preparing to take on Trenton Central High School in a public debate in Trenton on Thursday, December 15, 2011. The debate will discuss whether it is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more innocent people.

A recent article in the Trentonian described the upcoming event, which will feature top speakers from both RUDU and the TCHS debate team. The debate will be held at 9:00 in the morning in the community room of Trenton Central High and is open to the public with no admission fee.

TCHS is ranked near the top of the Colonial Valley Conference in Policy Debate. RUDU is currently ranked ninth in the American Parliamentary Debate Association (APDA).

RUDU has held several public debates this year, both on the Rutgers campus and at Columbia University against rival New York-area schools. RUDU’s final competition on the APDA schedule for this semester will be held in Baltimore this weekend. The Debate Union will then have a month off before returning to competitive tournaments on January 6th.
