Rutgers Breaks Out at JHU Tournament

Rutgers got the year off to a roaring start at the season’s inaugural tournament at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. We sent four teams of the 70 competing and achieved the following results:

Dave Reiss – 9th Varsity Speaker
Chris Andrews & Ashley Novak – 4th Novice Team (break to novice semis)
Chris Andrews – 2nd Novice Speaker
Ashley Novak – 3rd Novice Speaker
Alex Weiss – 5th Novice Speaker

Additionally, Dave Reiss & Kyle Bomeisl went 4-1, winning their first 4 rounds (3 against Yale) and beating two teams that made the break. Their final placement was around 11th.

Congratulations to everyone! We’ll see you on Tuesday to start preparing for the William & Mary tournament. Sign-ups for Columbia and/or F&M (September 24-25) will be this Thursday.

Rutgers Sweeps the Floor at AU!

Rutgers University’s very own Christopher Bergman and Dave Reiss broke into quarterfinals at American Univeristy’s tight-link tournament this weekend. They are the first Rutgers team to break in almost two years. Congrats to Chris and Dave for their stellar performance; hopefully many more breaks to come! Special thanks to Storey Clayton for all the training he gave us as Rutgers Debate Coach.

Congrats to you all.
